Day 1/ Costa Rica Coffee tour – Dairy Farm tour

This is a real agro-tour. After learning about the history of coffee you will learn how coffee is farmed and harvested prior to the milling and roasting process, at the Golden Bean Coffee Mill which produces sustainable coffee, abiding by all local laws and environmental and social requirements.  In the mill you will witness the transformation of the coffee cherry into a ready to roast bean. This process includes coffee reception and measurement, de-pulping, fermenting, drying, storage and finally husking and grading.

Once graded the coffee is ready for roasting. After a visit to the roasting facilities, they offer an interactive cupping session in which each participant will be able to cup different types and qualities of coffee. Our expert guide will also teach you how to prepare outstanding coffee at home!

Day 2/ Adventure day

You are rappelling down four waterfalls, zip lining down five canopy cables, walking across a 132 foot hanging bridge – all giving you an unforgettable adrenaline rush! After lunch, the adventure continues with the bike ride.  During the ride, a guide will explain the great diversity of the forest and fruit plantations such as: coffee, cacao, sugar cane, citrus, plantains, bananas, macadamia, pineapple, mango, avocados and many other exotic species from tropical countries. Thanks to the diversity in flowers and fruits, the plantation is also an ideal site for bird watching, mammals and some reptiles. Bike riders will finish the tour with a visit to the Tropical Botanical Garden, which has a collection of some of the most important tropical plants in the world.

Day 3 & 4 / Local Community Homestay

After breakfast, Mollejones Community is waiting for you. During two nights you are going to stay with Costa Rican families experiencing their lifestyle, learning about their economic activities, and their cultural characteristics. You are going to learn how they grow and harvest peppers, passion fruit, guava and sugar cane, to process many products.

Day 5/ Rafting Pacuare River

After breakfast, one of our guides is going to pick you up at Mollejones and the adventure begins at Pacuare River for a one day rafting experience. The Pacuare River is ranked as one of the five best rivers in the world for white water rafting. The tour ends in a community called Siquirres located just two hours from San José.
