Luis, the river guide, was excellent. As I had been rafting several times before I knew his actions kept us out of trouble, he did a great job getting us through. The lunch was good but it was a little hard to get moving afterwards! You know how you like to just lay back. All in all, everything was better than advertised. We really had a wonderful experience. We really appreciated all the work you put in to make everything just right. Recommendations - most definitely yes. The poster goes up tomorrow at work and I already have photos ready. I'm sure everyone in my area will know how well we were "taken care of" I can only hope we can send some troops your way. Again your new friend at American Airlines

When you arrive in San Jose, an Explornatura guide meets you at the airport and accompanies you to your hotel in the heart of San Jose, perfectly located for exploring the treasures that Costa Ricas capital has to offer. With an entrance ticket to the Gold Museum and a list of other sites to see and things to do, all conveniently located within four blocks of your hotel, you begin your first evening in this exciting capital city. The evening is highlighted by dinner with the tour group and meeting the Explornatura guide who will lead the rest of your trip.
Your Costa Rican adventure begins early in the morning when we start south out of the Central Valley driving high up into the mountains that run parallel to the Pacific Coast. This takes us to the area of Cerro de la Muerte which is 2000 to 3000 meters above sea level (6500 - 9800 ft approximately). At this high elevation the average temperature stays in the mid 60s during the day and gets down into the 40s and 50s at nighttime. Here you will be immersed in a tropical cloud forest as we go on a canopy tour that includes over 200 meters (655 ft) of zip lines that traverse the tree canopies and provide you with spectacular 360 degree views of the mountains. We spend our evening at a luxurious resort, enjoying cooler temperatures of the higher elevations before heading off to the hot, sun-soaked beaches of the South Pacific the next morning.
A beautiful morning drive from the towering Central Mountain Range transports you down to the stunning beaches of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Here an entire afternoon of relaxation awaits you allowing for much needed time to rest up for the adventures to come!
Truly a day for the ocean lover in you! We begin the day with a relaxing boat trip to the Isla de Caño and spend the day snorkeling, swimming, and soaking up the sun.
A drive into the tropical mangroves is followed by basic safety instructions on kayaking and then fitting up with all the necessary equipment. We are then off on a thrilling kayak adventure through the majestic mangroves of the south pacific where you have a great chance to see the famous Scarlet Macaws and other tropical wildlife. Experience the flavors of authentic Costa Rican cuisine as you lunch in a local restaurant, and then spend the afternoon enjoying some down time on the beautiful local beaches.
We couldn't let you come all the way to one of Costa Rica's most popular destinations for surf without at least giving you a chance to hang ten! A morning surfing lesson is followed by a day spent putting your new knowledge to the test in the amazing waves of the Pacific.
If you are down in the South Pacific, you can't miss the chance to go to one of Costa Rica's most famous attractions, the Manuel Antonio National Park. Here you enjoy not only the beautiful beaches and natural surroundings, but also close encounters with Costa Rican wildlife like monkeys, sloths, coatimundis, and scarlet macaws just to name a few. Truly a day for the nature lover in you!
For your final day in Costa Rica, you can soak up your last rays from the tropical sun or wander around Manuel Antonio to take in the local culture and maybe even pick up a couple of souvenirs for family and friends back home. In the afternoon, it's back to San Jose where a stay in one of the hotels near the airport ensures your departure day will be as smooth as possible. In the evening, a farewell dinner with your guide and travel companions will be your final memories of an unforgettable vacation.
Airport transfer and departure.
