Language School
In today’s global community, it is becoming more and more necessary to be able to
communicate in more than one language. Spanish is the second most common language
in the world with 7% of the population speaking it as their first language. It is
estimated that in the United States alone, 55% of the population claims Spanish
as their primary language with limited or no fluency in English.
Our language immersion program combines Spanish classes with cultural immersion,
providing structure for learning Spanish in an environment where it can be put to
use. Here the emphasis isn’t on reading and writing, it is on speaking which ensures
that students receive almost instant gratification as they are able to improve their
verbal communication quickly regardless of their beginning level.
The accredited college program was developed based on the University of Texas Spanish
Program and allows students to study here and fulfill foreign language credits at
their respective universities. Having our language program accredited speaks volumes
for the excellent staff and teachers that support and make this language program
succeed.
The basic program includes a standard twenty hours of classroom time per week plus
a Latin Dance class, Costa Rican Cooking Class, and Explornatura Adventure Points.
We also have several options for individuals interested in upgrading their packages.
The Intensive Program adds eight additional one-on-one tutoring hours per week and
is designed for students that are serious about learning Spanish and want to take
advantage of every second they have in Costa Rica.
We also offer programs designed specifically for medical students or medical professionals.
These programs include the standard twenty-hour week plus a special medical schedule
that includes clinic hours, hospital visits, and classes with Costa Rican medical
professionals that concentrate on the ‘medical vocabulary’ and how to use it to
examine and effectively communicate with non-English speaking patients.
